Our own tribute to MJ and Life in L.A.
reaction to King of Pop's death takes it's toll, leaving at least one p.o.p. casualty
We're sharing this email Bill sent to the Whole Foods Tustin the day that MJ died (06-25-09) because it captures perfectly the bittersweet dealings of life in L.A. where celebrity trumps everything!  Our own (admittedly trivial) sign-off to the King of Pop follows.

An LA Story: Only in LA

Check the time of this email, as I have just walked in the door.  I've been driving for over 2 1/2 hours, trying to drive on Santa Monica Blvd past Westwood from first the Whole Foods on Santa Monica and Fairfax, then the Beverly Hills WF.  It took me around an hour and a half to get from the Bev Hills store to office in Santa Monica.  Why is there so much traffic?  I kept asking myself????  Well, there's your answer to "Where were you when Michael Jackson died in Westwood UCLA Hospital?"  Evidently from the news I am now getting, there are huge crowds assemblying in Westwood outside the hospital....I can factually tell you they all drove.  If I left now to come to Tustin, I wouldn't get there until 6:30.  Sorry. no.

How does Monday 12 to 2 look instead?  Let me know, thanks.  There is only one Michael Jackson, so this looks like a safe time.  Let us know what you think.

Sign me:
"Sorry to see Michael go, but midnight would have been a better time..."
or Bill @ p.o.p.

We're happy to share that the WF person couldn't have been nicer in supporting Billy's situation.  As for MJ, good night you sweet, mixed-up guy.  You were magical and mesmerizing at your best.  Now you can just relax and don't have to worry about how you looked to your fans or anyone.  Have a sweet, pleasant rest, and thanks for the amazing contribution to music and pop culture what you left behind ... except for "The Doggone Girl Is Mine" ... we can never forgive you and Paul McCartney for that nonsense!
