Our entry into Whole Foods: Day One
Whole Foods at Last

We got out of the kitchen late on Friday night weary but pleased and prepared with an extra flat of p.o.p. to begin our venture into Whole Foods the next day.

I arrived at the Market on Saturday afternoon at the designated time.  I felt like someone going to their first day of work. Albert motioned to where I was to set up my table and as he priced the bags. It started right away.  “Would you like to try some of our fresh candy”, I stated to the first group of shoppers. “We just made it yesterday”, I continued.  And just like that, a whole new set of p.o.p. customers was borne. “That’s very good” said one…”Crazy good!” exclaimed another.  They picked up packs immediately after tasting.  Kids, industry types, housewives, singles, couples.  This is just like the Farmers Market, I thought … only its inside and air conditioned (however, the music wasn’t quite as good as the Mar Vista Farmers Market). “Delicious” says a couple, as they try another flavor.

As I break down, I rate the afternoon a huge success…not because anyone came and said “good job”, but because I could look at our candy in its display at the bakery counter as I left, and I knew that people who had not known p.o.p. before this day now had tried it and had liked its quality.  “We’ll need three more cases” said Albert to me as I left.
